Poet & Crone

Author's Statement

“Speak up. Claim your voice. Seize your power.”

- Maria Gillum

Great poetry? Good poetry? I am content that it is my poetry written from my truth expressing my:

  • Experiences
  • Emotion
  • Evolution

Some poems are written in a volcanic burst of inspiration, creativity and expression in hours or a couple days.

Others kindle and percolate as fragments or thoughts on paper to be nurtured, molded and birthed into being over years.

Wounded

Poems, especially in Mortality, can be raw with anger, bitterness, fear and despair. Because that is life.

Whole

Poems can be joyful, thoughful, restful, funny. Because that is life.

What is a crone?

Becoming a Crone /kroʊn/ refers to entering a stage of an older woman who embodies wisdom, experience, insight, and clarity gathered over a lifetime.

This phase involves shedding societal expectations and embracing one's true self if that hasn't been accomplished before.

The Crone is seen as a guide or mentor, offering knowledge and support to younger generations
