Life Poetry ::: Wounded & Whole

that mountain, still

Mar 28, 2026 | family

that mountain, still

40 years of commitment

a ring, a promise, a commitment

on an Acadian mountain

september, 1985

me in white, you in black

walked hand in hand

up altar steps

to vow a lifetime

together

never more sure of

joining my life to yours

never more sure

that my life belonged besides yours

you hold the profoundest love

I've ever known

your life lived

in service to family and others

You, the forever giver —

always arms of comfort

always words of strength

in need

always acts of quiet grace

Always there,

supportive, steady

encouraged me to grow fully  into me

accepting each stage

through seasons that tested

and years that softened

building a life

not in grand gestures

but in the everyday—

shared glances, worn routines,

the comfort of knowing

time traced its lines upon us

yet never dimmed

the quiet certainty

of us

— after all the becoming,

all the weathering—

I would walk that mountain again

take your hand again

speak those vows again

certain, as I was then,

that my life

was meant beside yours.
