sanctuary of courage

inspired by Emerson’s Self-Reliance essay

Yearning to trust my own mind,
A heart whose sanctuary I might find.
To overcome doubt, a battle within,
Where self-belief sparks, a radiant kin.

In the labyrinth of thoughts, trust shall guide,
A compass true, where all fears subside.
Let courage flow like a river untamed,
Through shadows of doubt, a victory was claimed.

A battle fought against fear’s binding chain,
Trust in a vision, like sunlight through rain.
Within the heart’s chambers, doubts may reside,
Yet courage emerges, strong and dignified.

In the theater of dreams, where fears may play,
The script rewrites itself in a bolder array.
Faith in the mind, a steadfast ally,
Lifting our dreams to touch the sky.

Courage, the cornerstone, virtue profound,
Against life’s trials, a resilient rebound.
In the symphony of challenges, it sings,
Empowering hearts, where hope springs.

The vultures of doubt circle overhead,
Enlivening angst, where faith seems dead.
Yet even in betrayal and the mind’s wild fray,
A spark of self-belief lights the way.

Fears may play in the theater of the mind,
But hope drives the stage, relentless, kind.
For in life’s crucible, both cruel and smart,
Courage reigns supreme—a steadfast heart.
