birth of a mother
30th anniversary
Motherhood was birthed—
a wondrous, inexplicable geyser
surging
erupting—
An unintentional upwelling
a mysterious wellspringing
Enlivened love—
pulsating, magma-burst—
not burning,
but churned and churning.
Unrestrained tenderness breaching the surface,
bursting,
melding depth with breath
And the soul quickened in response—
a sacred participation in creation.
the world hushed in that moment
Shrunk to we three
Our small center of wonderment
at flesh of our flesh
from love’s expression
cradled in my arms…
Now—
three decades of becoming,
of growing side by side
stretching into who we are
And still…
when memory stirs like wind over water,
I feel the echo of you nestled close—
when the warmth of me met the warmth of you
a blessing that began
in that first, eternal moment
